The Perinton Food Shelf

The food shelf has been blessed with many generous donations from churches, businesses and community groups.  But, inevitably, as food items come in, they also go out as they are delivered to the needy in the community.

At the present time, the Perinton Food Cupboard needs:
Chili (canned), Cookies, Fruit Cocktail (canned), Hot Chocolate Mixes, Tissues, Mustard, Oatmeal & Cereals and Toothpaste.

PLEASE CHECK ALL EXPIRATION DATES ! ! ! ! !
No glass containers, please !

IMPORTANT:   The Perinton Food Shelf is also looking for volunteers.

The group also needs more volunteers to pack and deliver food -  Very part-time but certainly needed !!!!  If you could help with any of these tasks and/or for further information, please phone 425-7410 and leave a message.

Thank you for your generous contributions !

Mitzvah

Mitzvah Day ParticipantsFairport’s Congregation Etz Chaim and the Mt. Rise, UCC frequently join forces to actively serve the Fairport/Perinton community.

Recently, for example, nineteen congregants from both congregations and shown in the pho (left) , collaborated to perform Mitzvahs for two local organizations.  Prior to departing for the work locations, the group enjoyed a meet-and-greet light breakfast at Mt. Rise.  Eight people traveled to the Advent House Hospice on Mosley Road in Fairport to clean-up the grounds.  The remaining eleven went to the High Acres Natural Area, (HANA), a 150-acre preserve on Route 31F in Perinton with four miles of trails being reclaimed as a refuge for wildlife.  This group picked up trash along the trails and on the roadside berms.

The Hebrew word “Mitzvah” literally means" commandment", and refers to the holy commandments as enumerated in the Scriptures.  By inference, a “Mitzvah” refers to a kind and/or selfless act, a good deed, which carries out the intent of those commandments.
